Momma got me new treats! They taste terrific! She had asked the store clerk for something that would get my attention when I was hyper, and he gave her a sample of these. I loved them! So she bought me a packet. I pay a little more attention when I'm over-excited now, but I'm still over the top with what people have called "puppy ADD". They say I'll grow out of it.

I Love My Chewies!

My parents give me "chewies" made of rawhide. I'm getting kinda big for the strips now. They are going to get me bone or stick shaped ones soon. They get 100% American rawhide, which is supposed to be safe. Imported stuff can sometimes make dogs sick.

My Face is on Skateboards!
Momma made this design from a photo of me to be put on Skateboards!
I'm Allergic to Bees!

Momma took me on a walk yesterday around 6pm, instead of going to the dog park. At one point when she handed me a treat as I was heeling, there was a bee on my upper lip. It stung me. I stopped to paw it it. The treat and the bee fell to the ground.
Momma stepped on the bee, looked at my face and tried giving me the treat. I didn't want it. I then was acting really unruly. I wouldn't listen to Momma. We went a few more houses and I did my business.
Then Momma got tired of my behavior and picked me up to carry me. Then, she noticed the left side of my lip seemed bigger than usual. She brought me home to ask Daddy what he thought.
Daddy could see the stinger, but wasn't able to get it out. Plus, my lip was getting bigger by the minute. We got into the car and went to the vet. I used to think they were evil for sticking things in me and stealing my body parts, but now I love them. When I arrived at the vet, I headed straight to the desk for help. I knew they would help me (I didn't even submissive pee on the table this time). You see, by now, my face was so swollen, I could barely see out of my left eye!
Anyway, they gave me a shot of antihistamine and a shot of a pain reliever. Then they told my parents to get some antihistamines to give to me for a few days (and to have on hand, if this happens again).
Obviously, Momma didn't take the time to take a photo of how bad my face looked before I got treated. So here's the photo she did take when we got home. Most of the swelling was gone by then, so she made an approximation in Photoshop. It's nowhere near what I was really like because my eye is open!
My parents say thank goodness for Banfield's Wellness Program (they don't pay for office visits). And Momma now carries grape flavored chewable antihistamine for children with her.

I'm Gonna Be a Big Girl!
I'm 6 months, 11.5" tall and weigh 13.8 lbs! And I'm still lanky!
I've got 4 more months of growing to do. I've already passed the breed standard height of 11 inches, and I'm quickly approaching the breed standard weight range of 14 lbs to 18 lbs.

Awesome Evening at the Dog Park!
Around 6 pm, there were 16 small dogs, 14 human adults, and 5 human pups! We had so much fun! There were 3 dogs playing tug (at one time) with a toy hamburger. I played with two of the human girls. They were fun and loved me so much! Then Penny's Mom was giving out treats! She remarked to Momma about how gentle I took mine! I'm almost always gentle when it comes to taking treats. Sometimes I get carried away though.

Water is Falling From the Sky!

I wanted to go for a walk about an hour ago. Momma put this thing on me that she called a rain poncho (I didn't like it much). When we went outside, there was water coming from the sky (Momma called it rain and said that's why I needed to wear the rain poncho). Anyway, I was really excited! I was a bad pup and didn't listen to Momma about heeling as much as I have been. I really wanted to run in the rain!

Almost Maui's Size!

Here are two photos of me. The first one, Momma took the third day I lived here. I was trying to get Maui's attention. The second one, Momma took last night. Look how much bigger I am! I'm almost Maui's size! And my head is bigger!
I Learned a New Trick!
Momma taught me to ring bells when I want to go outside! (We need a video.)

I Got to Play with PUGS Yesterday!
There were two other pugs at the dog park last night! I was so excited! There was a fawn female and a black male. They were a year and a year and a half old. They both ran super fast! In fact, the boy was the fastest dog at the park at that time! He was really tall and lean for a pug. His parents told our parents that he weighed 25 lbs, yet he wasn't overweight because he was so tall!
I had been playing with one of my regular park buddies, when they showed up. Then they both came over and all three of us started picking on him. I felt a little bad about that. My parents really felt bad about it and kept breaking it up. Momma said she now knows why we're called pugs. One of the definitions of pug is a fighter, especially a boxer. Normally we're all playful and lovable, but Momma now thinks when there's a pack of us, we turn into fighters. I guess that's why some people seem afraid of me. Anyway, my parents let me play with the other pugs for a little bit, but then they took me home.
It's ok. We'd already been at the park for over a half an hour when the pugs showed up. I got plenty of play time in, and was happy to get in the car and rest. Plus, it was dinner time!

I LOVE Breath-A-Licious!

Momma bought me a Breath-A-Licious bone today! I love it! It's a natural treat, too! They are healthier and cheaper than Greenies dental treats.
This bone is for a medium sized dog (25 - 50 lbs). Momma didn't know they came in different sizes because that's all they had at the store. But you can get them in small (dogs under 25 lbs) and large (dogs over 75 lb) too! They come in multi-packs and in bulk!

I Made a New Friend!
Ok. Well, I make a new friend just about every day, but this one was special. Her name was Patty. She was a 6 month old short legged Jack Russell Terrier. She was just about the same size as me. I LOVED playing with her! I tried to leave with her, when she went home with her family. I hope I get to play with her again!

My First Bath

I just had my first bath. Momma said it was long overdue. She gave me lots of treats, and got in the bath to demonstrate what it was for. She then picked my up and put me in. I wasn't happy about this, but I stayed . . . sort of.
I put my front paws up on the edge of the tub, like I was going to jump out. I didn't, though. At least, I didn't right away. I let her pour some water on me, rub some puppy shampoo on me, and then rinse me off a little. Then, I jumped out (she didn't get to do my face).
I slipped when I landed. Then I raced in circles around the bathroom. Momma gave me more treats and put a towel on me. She rubbed me with it a little. A few times, I went back over to the tub and looked at the water. But I didn't go back in.
Momma took this picture when we were back in the bedroom. I wanted to go outside, but she wouldn't let me. She said I'd get all muddy.
She did let me up on her lap to cuddle for a bit. Then I saw my brother, Maui, on the bed. I wanted to go cuddle with him, so I quietly barked at him. Momma got the clue and put me on the bed next to him. Then we all had some quality cuddle time.
We used this shampoo
I'm So Proud of Momma!
We were out in the dining room visiting with Diane and her dogs, when I needed to pee! I walked over to the gate at our door. Momma noticed, and took down the gate so I could go through. I ran straight to the outside door, and Momma let me out to go potty. In the past, I wouldn't have trusted Momma to do this for me. I would have gone potty over by the cat litter boxes. Momma says she's proud of ME for not doing so (she said something about me being completely housebroken now).

Oh Man . . . The Cat Sat on My Head
This is another one Momma should post a photo or video of, but it happened so unexpectedly . . . and she needed to help me right away.
Maui (my feline brother) rubbed his face against mine. And then he sat on my head! Momma ran over and got him off of me. Why'd he do that?! We were being so nice!

I'm Back at the Dog Park!
I got my stitches out yesterday and went to the dog park for the first time in 10 days! I was so excited! I even met a lot of new dogs and people! The usual evening group wasn't there, except for one Miniature Australian Shepherd, and his Momma. I missed my friends, so I was a little sad not to see them . . . but it was great to make new ones!

I Out Smarted Momma This Morning!
Momma tried to give me my pill without putting it in peanut butter this morning. I did not allow that. She gave me a handful of kibble with the pill mixed in. I licked it all off of her hand, swallowed the kibble, and then spit the pill on the floor! I win! Momma went and got the peanut butter! I love peanut butter!

Not to Be Gross But . . .
My parents took me on an emergency trip to the vet again, just now. I had what they called a pustule right on the edge of my spay incision. The vet said it was just from an ingrown hair. To be safe, she gave us antibiotics. Momma covers the pill in peanut butter for me so that it tastes like a treat. It's yummy, and I'll be ok. I still can get my stitches out on Saturday. Oh yeah, and I gained half a pound, since I was there last Saturday.

The Treat in the Bottle
Momma took this video of me trying to get a Zuke's Mini Naturals treat out of a plastic water bottle. It was great fun. She called to me at the end, so that you can see my face. Oh, and I suggest getting these treats. They are really yummy. There's an Amazon.com link on my "Cool Supplies" page.
I'll Get It Momma!

I was bad. I wasn't listening to Momma's "Leave It" command. She crated me after this, so she could finish cleaning the floor.
I Saw the Light!

Seriously though . . . Momma's friend Elaine (Elaine means light) came by today with her bull dog's old crate. I'm getting too big to sleep in my Snoozer carrier every night. I was sleeping in my brother, Maui's, but I don't fit in it with the cone on. This new one is perfect! Momma had me get in it for the photo, which I wasn't happy about. It was play time in my mind.
Oh yeah . . . and it was the first time I met Elaine. I liked her. I wanted to play with her, but she had to leave. She said we'd get to play soon, though. I can't wait! I hear she has three kids for me to play with too!

I've Been a BAD Girl!

Ok. Not too bad, really. Momma just caught me chewing on the thing she hangs all her wet clothes on (she calls it a drying rack). She thought it looked like I was in a cage, and I hammed it up with the sad look.
What a Sight!
There was this big bird on the fence holding a rat in it's talons last night! I barked at it. Momma stood up between me and it. It flew off. Momma called it a hawk, and said she's glad it didn't come around when I was smaller. I wish she'd gotten a photo to post.

"Can't Keep a Good Pug Down"
I had some swelling next to the incision. Momma freaked out and took me to that evil place where they do experiments on me again. I barked ferociously as soon as we got off the highway, and didn't stop until I was on the table.
Luckily, today they didn't take any more body parts. They just took my temperature and poked at my belly some. Then they said I was fine.
The swelling is just from the muscle being stretched during surgery, and the fact that I refuse to rest all the time. The lady said it's a Pug trait . . . can't keep a good Pug down.
I even showed her how much spirit I have by barking and jumping at the dogs I heard on the other side of the door, while I was on the table. Then I barked ferociously all the way into the car.
Apparently, I have to go back again next Saturday to have the stitches taken out. I don't want to.

Spay

I learned what spay meant yesterday. Not fun.
My parent's took me to the vet hospital again, but this time they left! I was so scared. I started barking when they walked away. And I had a right to be scared!
They brought me in the back room and shaved one of my legs and stuck something in it. They called it a catheter.
Next thing I knew, I woke up with a shaved belly that's sewn up . . . and I feel like something is missing in side of me. I went right back to sleep.
A few hours later, my parents came to pick me up! I was so happy to see them!
Unfortunately, they put the "cone of shame" on my head. I've seen this in the movie "Up". I wonder what I did wrong. Anyway, I'm told I can't play for 10 days! 10 days! I don't know what I'm going to do with myself.
Plus, they say I have to go back to the vet hospital to be checked on. I don't want to go back there! Momma says they'll let me know if I can play again, so we have to go. Oh well.
Oh, she also says they put something in me, so that if I get lost, I can be returned to her. I like that idea! I don't like being away from Momma.

I Went to a Farm Today!
Today my parents took me to their friends' farm. I met 3 new humans, 3 new dogs, 4 new cats, 1 horse, 2 ponies, 2 goats, and a whole lotta chickens! I've never seen horses, ponies, goats or chickens!
I loved the attention from the humans, and it was fun playing with the dogs. The cats were actually kittens, and I've learned form the cats at home not to bother them too much.
The horse, ponies and goats were a little scary. I wasn't so scared that I barked. I boldly walked up to their fence, but I stayed a few feet back.
The chickens were fun! I think I scared them good. At first I was barking at them ferociously because they were weird. But then I gave them a play bow, and barked playfully at them, as I ran around their cage. They kept running from one end to the other. It was fun! I got to pretend I was a herding dog. Momma called me away though, since she thought I was scaring the chickens too much.
Momma says next time, she may put a life jacket on me and let me try swimming in the pool, like the other dogs were.
I wish my parents had taken pictures to post!

My Cousins's Birthday Party
Yesterday, I went to my human cousins' birthday party. They turned 3 and 6 today! They are brother and sister, but were born 3 years apart to the day! How strange, but fun!
Anyway, their party was at a park, and we had great fun! I got to meet some kids from the ages of 2 to 13! I did some of my tricks to make them laugh (and get treats). The 13 year old had another puppy with her the same age as me! The other puppy and I wrestled a lot! Great fun!

Tonight at the Dog Park
Momma brought my agility tunnel and I played in it with some new friends. I got to go through it in a shape other than a straight line for the first time!
I also surprised Momma when we left. She told me to "Load up" and I jumped right into the back seat by myself (I'm finally tall enough). I didn't go straight into my carrier. But she said, "Load up" again and I did right away.
My carrier is a 4 in 1 soft sided thing and I love it. It is rolling luggage that works as an airline carry on, a backpack, a car seat, and a bed. Unfortunately, I'm probably not going to fit into it comfortably for much longer. But it's the best! I feel really safe in it. When it's in the car (or being used as a backpack), it's vertical, so I have to jump in head first. It's fun!

Coming Soon . . .
A video of me doing my tricks. I'll ask Momma and Daddy to get that going so I can post it.
There may be a two week delay as I'm told I'm going to have to lay low for a couple of weeks, after next Thursday. Momma said something about getting spayed . . . whatever that is.

Madcap K9
My parents have started creating products for outdoor adventure dogs and their parents. They are calling it Madcap K9 and have stuff for sale at a Zazzle store. Right now, the products feature cartoons and photos of me but they plan on adding other dogs in the future.

My First Camping & Beach Trip

On September 1, Momma and Daddy took me to the coast for my first camping trip. We went to some beaches which were loads of fun (despite the fact I look grumpy again)!
Here's some photos. In the second one, I'm with Daddy and wearing my new trench coat to keep me warm. I wasn't too happy about it. It didn't quite fit and one leg kept getting stuck. Since last week, I've grown into it!
Daddy also filmed some of the trip. He and Momma put a video together. It's mostly of me walking on the beaches. I'm new to this whole leash thing. Momma tells me to "Heal" because trying to get me to walk at her side, rather than pulling. But I'm WAY too excited. This is my first time out of the yard on leash . . . and my first time to the beach! So many wonderful things! I'm not sure how I feel about the waves, though. Daddy's a little disappointed because he wanted to teach me to surf with him, maybe someday . . .
My Grumpy Pug Look

Here (on August 26th), I'm laying on Momma's pillows looking like a grumpy old pug. It wasn't the best shot, so Momma did some Photoshop stuff to it to make it look a little artsy.
Sleeping Next to My Brother, Maui

This is my brother, Maui. He's a cat. He's a little over a year old. I try to play with him, but he's usually not into it . . . unless it's chase. He likes it when I clean his ears, and sometimes he nuzzles me. He also goes with me and Momma when we go for our walks around the neighborhood. (Oh yeah, that's Momma's knee at the top of the photo, which was taken August 25th).
I Love Zuke's Treats!

I wasn't doing very well with my training at first. I just wasn't motivated. But then Momma got me Zuke's Mini Naturals. I love them! On August 20th, a box arrived that had 3 different flavors, plus some other treats! I was SO excited and I loved all all 3 flavors, the Mini Bakes, and The Power Bones. Momma doesn't give me the Power Bones very often. She says I have too much energy as it is.
On My Skateboard

This is me waiting for my treat during my skateboard training on August 18th. I love skating. Sometimes I make it move when I hop on and sometimes Momma pushes it for me. But it's loads of fun!
I Love Digging in Dirt!

I had a really great time digging a hole in the yard on July 31. Momma thought I looked really cute and took these pictures of my dirty face.

When I Was 11 Weeks Old
When I was 11 weeks old (July 4th, 2010), I came to live with my new Momma and Daddy. These are Momma's shoes. She caught me chewing on the laces. But I was so cute, she took a photo of me after she scolded me.
Oh yeah, I was born 4/20.
